9 Days Uganda Cultural Trip

Uganda is endowed with various unique cultural attractions along side with its natural attractions like game parks and reserves. Uganda is also known as a cultural melting spot with the existence of over 50 plus indigenous belong to five distinct linguistic groups, and an equally diverse cultural mosaic of music, art and handcrafts. The rich culture of Uganda is from the history of traditional kingdoms which have a great influence on the tourism sector. Uganda has a very strong cultural heritage sites in all regions which include; Buganda kingdom, Busoga Kingdom, Toro Kingdom, Bunyoro Kingdom.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe

On arrival at Entebbe international airport, you will be met and greeted by our safari guide/driver; he will then brief you about the all safari and later transfer you to your pre-booked accommodation in Kampala. Diner and an overnight at; (Budget) Namirembe Guest House, (Mid-range): Cassia lodge, (Luxury hotels): Sheraton, Speke resort Munyonyo, Imperial Royal Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Hoima.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to Hoima district passing through the beautiful green vegetation and banana plantation along the way. You will make a stopover at Mparo tombs. Mparo tombs are royal burial grounds for Bunyoro traditional kings you will get more information about the place from the care takers. Dinner and overnight stay at either Koolping house or African Village Guest House

Day 3: Hoima Cultural tour

After breakfast, you will take a visit to Bujumbura cathedral, Duhaga Cathedral, Katasiha fort and Bunyoro kingdom palace. Then you will have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon you will be entertained by Entogoro cultural dance group and if interested you can join them and dance with them. Dinner and an overnight stay at Koolping house or African Village Guest House

Day 4: Transfer to Fort portal

After breakfast, you will drive to Fort portal. You will drive through the green county side and traditional homesteads and also the local markets. You will make a stopover at Mukwano Tea Estates for photography and then proceed to Fort Portal. Dinner and Overnight stay at; (Budget):  Rwenzori View Guest House (Mid-range), Rwenzori Travelers Inn, Ndali Lodge (luxury): Mountain of the Moon, Kyaninga Lodge, Ataco County Resort.

Day 5: Fort Portal cultural tour

After a hearty breakfast you will visit the Toro kingdom Palace and Karambi tombs. Then you will have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon you will drive to the historical site of Amabeere ga ‘’Nyina mwiru’’ caves and also take a hike on the Nyakasura hills where you will have a magnificent view of Saaka crater lakes. Dinner and overnight stay at: (Budget):  Rwenzori View Guest House (Mid-range), Rwenzori Travelers Inn, Ndali Lodge (luxury): Mountain of the Moon, Kyaninga Lodge, Ataco County Resort.

Day 6: Transfer to Kampala

After breakfast, you will drive to Kampala via Mubende route and have a stop over at Nakayima cultural site to see the mystical Nakayima tree which stands at the focal point of the mighty Chwezi Empire at the very place where king Ndahura carried out most of his traditional rituals, the tree is estimated to be between 400 to 500 years. Have lunch en-route and then proceed to Kampala. Day 7: Transfer to Jinja

After breakfast, you will drive to Jinja in the eastern part of Uganda; you will make a stopover at Ssezibwa falls, which is believed to have been born of ‘’a woman’’ many years ago. The sacred Ssezibwa falls is one of natural preserver for Buganda’s Kings, you will be fed with informative information from the care takers of the place. Take a nature walk in Mabira forest and then after proceed to the source of the Nile with fantastic views to sugar and tea plantation continue to Jinja and visit the spectacular Bujagali Falls. Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe cultural site

After breakfast embark on a 3-4 hours’ drive to Kampala with en-route break in Kampala. After you will drive to Entebbe, visit the Bemba cave in Zika ecotourism forest site, and take a nature walk, birding. Proceed to the Uganda Wildlife Educational Centre and Kigungu catholic missionary church.  Dinner and overnight stay at: (Budget): The lodge, Namirembe Guest House, (Mid-range): Cassia lodge, (Luxury hotels): Sheraton, Speke resort Munyonyo, Imperial Royal Hotel.

Day 9: Transfer to Entebbe airport.

After breakfast you will be driven to the airport for your flight back home if scheduled on this day.
