Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Kigali City tour

Upon arrival your arrival at Kigali International Airport, our safari tour company guide/driver will meet and greet you, and after he will brief you about the safari and later drive you to your pre-book accommodation. However, if you arrive in time in Kigali city, our guide will take you on a city tour and visit some of the interesting places around. Places to visit include the genocide museum, local markets, and art and crafts shops. Chimpanzee-Nyungwe-Forest

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe forest

After an early morning breakfast, we will drive to Nyungwe forest National Park in the southwestern part of Rwanda. Nyungwe National Park lies within the Albertine Rift eco-region and is one of the most endemic species-rich areas in all of Africa. Nyungwe forest has more than 200 different trees and a myriad of flowering plants. The forest is home to over 13 primate species including chimpanzees the closest relative of man. We will make a stopover at the old palace in Nyanza and also have lunch en route before heading to the park. The drive takes about 6-7 hours from Kigali to the park arriving in the evening. Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will be briefed by the park ranger guide about the dos and don’ts while with chimps. After, proceed to Nyungwe forest to search for chimpanzees. The tracking time is unpredictable, however, it can be from 1-6 hours in the jungle searching them, and meeting them depending on where they spent their last night. Once they are met you are strictly allowed only one hour with them. You will also be able to spot other primates in the process of tracking chimps such as Rwenzori colobus, L’hoest’s monkeys, silver monkeys, owl-faced monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabey. You will also be able to spot other forest habitats like a variety of bird species, reptiles, and butterflies. After the activity, return back to the lodge for lunch and relax. You can opt for an evening forest guided walk to see more bird species and other tree species in the forest. Day 4: Transfer to Kigali

After breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven back to Kigali with a stopover at the cultural museum in Butare and a visit to the cultural museum. From here we will drive back to Kigali town for lunch and after transfer to Kigali airport to catch your flight back home.
