15 Days Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi Safari

This tour will take you to Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi for a great experience

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe international airport

Upon your arrival at Entebbe international airport, you will be met by a safari guide/ driver who will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala. Dinner and an overnight at (Budget) The lodge, (mid-range) Cassia Lodge, Boma Guest House, (luxury) Hotel Africana, Serena Hotel

 

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls

After breakfast you will be driven to the north-eastern part of Uganda to the largest and most beautiful national park in Uganda Murchison falls National Park. You will pass via Luweero triangle and Nakasongola, in case you want to track the Rhinos, you will be driven to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary a home to over 20 white and black rhinos (Rhino tracking costs usd 40 per person). After lunch, continue to the top of the falls an incredible sight where the water marvels at the Might Nile being forced into a seven meter crevice to thunder 45 meters below in a series of cascades. While here one can appreciate the staggering power with which the Nile crashes through the narrow gap in the escarpment. Day 3: Game drive and Launch cruise

After a cup of coffee you will be driven to the northern part of the park to meet the early risen rushing out from their hideouts. Games expected to see include predators and nocturnal animals like the hartebeests, leopards, leopards, Hyenas, elephants, giraffes, Lions and many birds among others. After this wonderful activity Return back to the lodge for full breakfast and lunch, then in the afternoon you will go for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls to watch out for other species of animals like Hippos, Crocodiles, Elephants and buffaloes can be seen along the shoreline and also many species of birds that live and feed on the lake like the king fisher, eagle and if lucky you can spot a rare shoebill. Day 4: Drive to Fort portal Kibale National park.

In the morning after breakfast, you will embark on a transfer to Fort portal, the drive will take you about 7 hours to reach the town in the afternoon for lunch and then after lunch proceed to Kibale forest national park a home to over 13 species of primates coupled with chimpanzee the most common primate species at the park. Check into your booked accommodation for leisure and later dinner and an overnight at mountains of the moon,Kyaninga Lodge, primate lodge kibale, Ndali Lodge (luxury), kibale forest Camp, Ruwenzori view guest house (midrange), Chimpanzee Forest Guest House (budget)

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Nature walks.

After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters in Kanyankyu for briefing before you set off to the forest to begin the search of our close relatives the chimps. Chimpanzee tracking time is unpredictable however it can go from 1-6 hours since meeting them depends on where they spent their last night from, so a reasonable degree of fitness is needed as well tracking gears like sturdy pair of shoes. Ounce they are met you strictly allowed only one hour with them. chimps are fabulous fun to watch when doing their daily activities like feeding, making nest, playing among others. In the process of chimp searching other species of primates can be seen like the Colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked Mangabeys baboons, civet monkey, among many others and the guide will provide all relative information needed on any forest flora and fauna come across. Day 6: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National park.

After breakfast you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National park a home for a wide biodiversity of wildlife. The drive will take you about 4 hours with a scenic drive up to the park and you will arrive in the afternoon for lunch, after you will embark on a two hours launch cruise on the kazinga channel which connects lakes Edward and George, the launch cruise provide an opportunity to watch various species of wildlife that live and feed on the lake including large numbers of hippos, crocodiles while buffaloes and elephants can be spotted along the shoreline and many species of birds if lucky you can even spot the rare shoebill. Day 7: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park

After breakfast, you will be driven to kasenyi area of the park to catch-up with different species of animals that live in the park. Games expects to see include elephant, lion, Leopard, buffalo, waterbuck, warthogs, Uganda Kob, among many others, after drive back to the lodge for full breakfast and lunch. After lunch, you will visit Katwe salt lake and get to know how salt is being extracted from this beautiful lake. Or you can go for chimp tracking in the Kyambura George. Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Enjoy your morning breakfast to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will pass via Ishasha a famous place known for its tree climbing lions, if lucky you will have a glance at them sited on fig trees or tree blanches, they are so interesting to watch. You will have a lunch en-route at Ishasha wideness camp. From here you will continue to the park with more sites to different species of games like antelopes, elephant, buffaloes among others, you will arrive at the park in the late afternoon; relax at the lodge prior to your gorilla tracking tomorrow. Day 9: Gorilla tracking

Up relatively early for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking, before 8:00am report to the ranger station for registration and an informative talk from senior ranger guides/park warden; the guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (This trek can take from 3 to 9 hours depending on where these species spent the night before. So a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes). You will sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. It’s amazing to think there are only about 880 of these beautiful creatures left. Day 10: Transfer to Rwanda.

After breakfast, leave for Uganda-Rwanda border, after finalizing with the border crossing requirements, cross to Rwanda (the clock will go backwards for one hour) passing through beautiful sceneries and hills up to the park in the northern part of Rwanda reaching in time for lunch. You will relax at the lodge prior to your gorilla tracking tomorrow. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla View lodge, Sabyinyo silver back lodge (Luxury) or Gorilla’s Nest lodge (Midrange)

Day 11:  Gorilla tracking and transfer to Kigali

After breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters at Kinigi to receive short briefings from the park wardens about the all process of gorilla tracking and also gets you assigned to the ranger guide and the gorilla family. After, you will follow the ranger guide to the forest to begin the search of gorillas. The time taken to meet the gorillas is unpredictable since they are wild animals they move freely in their natural the search may go from half to full day while in the jungle search for them, so a reasonable degree of fitness is called far as well as tracking gears like sturdy pair of walking shoes. Once the gorillas  are met, you are strictly allowed only one hour with them while observing their behaviours as well as taking photos and videos with them (a flash camera is not allowed). After the activity, drive back to the lodge for late lunch and in the evening if you still have energy enjoy a community walk and the local people who live near the park. Day 12: Kigali city tour

After breakfast, you will tour the Kigali City; your visit will include the Genocide Museum, a startling reminder of Rwanda’s terrible past, visit the National Museums, the art and craft shops, markets and many other interesting places within the city. After lunch, you will visit other new developments like the central business district and the parliament buildings, residential suburbs and shops. If time permits you can also visit the Nyabugogo second hand clothes market a colourful and interesting sight! Overnight stay at Kigali serena Hotel, Hotel des mille collines (Luxury) or Chezlando Hotel (Budget)

Day 13: Transfer to Burundi

After your wonderful breakfast, you will be transferred to Burundi; you will reach in time for lunch and later have a free afternoon and later dinner and an overnight at Club Du lac Tanganyika hotel

Day 14: Burundi City Tour

After breakfast, you will visit the Snake & Culture Museum; the Islam Culture Centre; City Hall, visit the site thought to be the true Source of the Nile at Rutovu and then relaxation at the sandy beaches of Lake Tanganyika. Dinner and overnight at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel

Day 15: Departure

This morning after breakfast, you will have another tour to visit the Explorers Memorial, a huge rock in the Suburbs of Bujumbura commemorating the meeting between explorers John Speke and Hanington. Also take a visit to the local general goods market, the craft centre and downtown Bujumbura. Have lunch within the city and then later our safari guide will transfer you to the airport to meet your departure flight back home.
